Simple past tense - regular verbs
We form the past simple of regular verbs by adding –ed to the main verb.
I visited my grandparents last week.
We form negatives and questions with the auxiliary verb did/did not. We do not use -ed in question
and negative forms.
Did you play football yesterday?
He did not clean his room yesterday.
Affirmative Negative Question
I learned. I did not learn. Did I learn?
You learned. You did not learn. Did you learn?
He learned. He did not learn. Did he learn?
She learned. She did not learn. Did she learn?
It learned. It did not learn. Did it learn?
We learned. We did not learn. Did we learn?
You learned. You did not learn. Did you learn?
They learned. They did not learn. Did they learn?
A. Complete the sentences with the simple past tense of the verbs in brackets.
