What personality traits are important for students?
Everybody studies in a different way. While some people
like to keep very clear, organised notes, others prefer to use
colourful mind maps to help them remember important
information. So, what makes a good student?
Although we may think clever people will automatically
be better students, research shows that intelligence is
not as important as a self-discipline in education. In fact,
aspects which are more likely to ensure a student achieves
good marks are things like good time management and
identifying priorities. This means that a student needs to
be organised in terms of preparing a study schedule, as
opposed to leaving things to the last minute and cramming
the day before a big test.
However, flexibility is also an important factor at some point.
There may be a sudden change of plans which disrupts your
perfect schedule. Nevertheless, those who are determined
to succeed will make the most of the opportunities and
problems life throws at them.
a. intelligence d. flexibility
b. self-discipline e. determination
c. organisation
