3 Time Off

E. Read the following passage and write “yes/no” questions about the word in brackets.

Schools were very different when I was a student years ago. All the students had to wear a school
uniform and a cap. There were a lot of rules, and the teachers were very strict. We had to go to
school six days a week instead of five days. We had to go to school on Saturday. We had to stand up
when a teacher came into the room. We had to greet our teachers like soldiers when we met them
anywhere. Some of our teachers used to come to our homes at night and check if we had done
our homework or not. When we got lower grades, they used to punish us. We had to do extra work
during the lunch hour. I think schools are more relaxed nowadays.
