I’ll never forget the day my mum brought Dasher home. He was such a cute little puppy, and when he
came running over to me and started licking my hands and face, I knew we were going to be inseparable.

Training Dasher became a part of my everyday routine, and I’d spend hours in the garden getting him to
sit, stay and fetch. I thought he was such an obedient dog, but my mum still made me promise not to take
off his lead when we were out.

One day though, we were out for a walk and there was no one else around, so I decided to see just how
well-trained Dasher was. I slowly took off his lead and told him very firmly to sit and stay. Slowly, I took a
                  few steps backwards...

Dasher saw the rabbit a split-second before I did, and he was off! Like a flash of lightning, he flew past me
and chased the rabbit across the field and through a gap in the hedge. I ran after him, and thankfully
after the rabbit had run into its hole, he had given up the chase. When I reached the hedge, he was
calmly sitting on the other side, as if to say, “I’m here. Where have you been?”
