Towards the end of the 20 century, there was a

marked decrease in the number of Iberian lynxes
in the wild, partly due to a sharp decline in the
rabbit population. Being the animals’ main food
source, when rabbits were overhunted or died of
natural causes, the Iberian lynx was left with less
food. Furthermore, the use of their natural habitat
for agricultural purposes meant that the animals
had to migrate further in order to find food.
