How would a single-currency economy have a positive effect on global business?
With approximately 180 currencies in circulation around the world, the creation of a single-currency economy
would solve a number of problems and have huge benefits for individuals and businesses.

One of the major problems for both individuals and companies with having multiple currencies is that a great
deal of money is lost when exchanges between two currencies are made. By creating a single currency to
be used around the world, holidaymakers wouldn’t lose out when travelling and businesses would also save
money when making purchases across borders. Linked to this would be an end to exchange rate fluctuation,
which can have devastating effects during moments of financial crisis in the world’s leading economies.

Furthermore, this single currency would mean increased transparency of prices around the globe. Again,
for both businesses and individuals, this has a positive effect as it allows citizens to have a clear idea of the
difference in price, whether they are travelling abroad or making purchases online.

Alongside increased price transparency, there would also be more need for competition between companies
offering products and services. This in turn would have a positive impact on the consumer as businesses
would need to offer competitive prices in order to stay ahead in the market.

In conclusion, whilst a single-currency economy would undeniably benefit businesses, it also would
undoubtedly have positive implications for citizens around the world.
