Unfortunately, despite all the honest, giving people in the world, there are bound to 1 some
people who will take advantage of other people’s goodwill. One example is the case of a fraudster from
Georgia (US) who was able to accumulate almost $670,000 by scamming companies into making donations.
You may well ask, “How could this 2 ?” The man in question, Kai Brockington, registered a
charity which, according to its website, should 3 healthcare facilities in local communities.
As in the US many companies have donation-matching schemes, Brockington then paid friends to say they
had donated to Our Genesis Project so that the company would donate the same amount. The companies

The FBI suggests donating to charities which you know and trust, but if you think you could 7
