The progressive aspect
The progressive aspect expresses that an action is
ongoing. The progressive aspect includes the present
progressive, the past progressive, and the future
progressive tenses. Verbs in progressive tenses always
use a form of be plus the -ing form of the main verb.
• present progressive
I’m talking on the phone. (current action)
We’re flying to New York this week. (future plan)
• past progressive
He wasn’t studying all afternoon.
• future progressive
Will you be working late?
B. Complete the sentences with a progressive aspect using the verbs in brackets.
