Many kids get up, get dressed and brush their teeth in twenty minutes, and they leave home, sometimes
before seven o’clock in the morning. Some kids don’t get home again until seven o’clock at night! They
rarely see their parents, and hardly ever have a nice time with them. That’s not a good life. That’s why I
school my kids at home. We take our time over things like brushing teeth and having breakfast. We talk
about health and why it’s important. We do lots of different things together, and my kids can spend more
time doing the things they like most. My daughter is great at the piano. My son prefers drawing. They
both have lots of time to practise, so they are really good at it. We go online to get tips from professional
artists and musicians. We meet other homeschool families nearly every day, so my kids have friends. We
know these other families well, so if there are problems, like bullying or fighting, the parents can help to
solve them. I think homeschooling is fun and caring. Many kids have a terrible time at high school. They
find their work stressful; they don’t understand the lessons, the teachers don’t help because they are too
busy, and other kids bully them. It’s a terrible life for a young person! And often the parents and teachers
don’t even know that the kid is having a terrible time. But homeschool kids are happy, and they get
lots of help and care from their parent-teachers. So, they are ready to learn, and many home-schooled
children achieve a lot!
