Writing Time




              Commas: They show separate words or ideas in a
              sentence.





                   Commas should be used after ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and also
                   the names and titles at the beginning of a sentence.


                   Examples:

                          Yes, I can hear you clearly.
                          Mum, can you make me a sandwich?

                   Try it:

                                        I can’t hear you.







                   Commas should be used between two similar adjectives.


                   Examples:
                          I hate this cold, windy weather.

                          This is a small, cheap bag.

                   Try it:

                          I have such a                                      friend.







                   Commas should be used in a list of things.

                   Examples:

                          I love reading, dancing, and playing.
                          The teacher plays, talks, and goes out with us.

                   Try it:

                          My friends                                            at my house.
