Home Connection
Dear Parents,
As a part of our social studies program, your child is learning about
respect. In class, we discussed good manners and how to show respect at
home and school.
Here are some things you can do to support the concept of this lesson.
• Be a model yourself by using courteous words when speaking
with your child.
• Praise your child for showing respect. Try to catch him/her doing
something good and reinforce the importance of what he/she has
done or said. For example, tell him/her, “Thank you for switching
off the TV when you noticed the baby was sleeping,” or “Thank
you for asking to use my pen before taking it.”
• Play a detective game. Tell your child that you are going out this
weekend and he/she should watch for acts of respect from other
people. Discuss what your child has seen when you are back
home.
• Design a “Respect Poster” with your child. Draw and
write all the things he/she can do to show respect.
Hang it up in his/her room.
Thank you for being our partner in education!
Research has shown that children with involved parents score
better than others whose parents don't have a role in their
education process. Help your child stay brilliant!
