Dear Parents,
As a part of our social studies program, your child is learning about
community and community rules. In class, we learned ways that children
can be responsible citizens.
Here are some things you can do to support the message of this lesson
and our related learning activities.
• Play “I Spy.” As you move through an afternoon, have your child
find and identify as many community helpers as he/she can.
• Talk about community rules in your neighborhood.
• Catch your child following a community rule or law and
compliment him/her.
• Play a detective game. Ask your child to find one example of
someone who is following the rules and someone who is not
following a rule or law. When you go home, talk about what you
saw and why it is important to follow community rules and laws.
• If you are a community helper, tell your child more about the
work that you do and how you help your community.
Thank you for being our partner in education!
Research has shown that children with involved parents score
better than others whose parents don't have a role in their
education process. Help your child stay brilliant!
