                 A. Discuss with a partner.

                   1. Which of these train journeys do you think
                      you would enjoy more? Why?

                   2. What might be interesting and boring
                      about each one?
                                                                      Switzerland

                 B. Look at the adjectives on the right. Do you
think they describe fact or opinion? Sri Lanka
                                                                     • amazing
A wonderful trip by train • boring

When my dad first told me we were going on a trip • built-up
across Australia by train, I thought it might be a little • diverse
boring. My dad absolutely adores trains, but nobody • fantastic
else in the family shares his passion. However, it’s • four-day
surprising just how much we enjoyed the four-day trip.
                                                                     • huge
Travelling by train for days on end might not be
everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s truly amazing when you • relaxing Namibia
see kangaroos jumping along next to the train as we • surprising
did. Furthermore, you can really appreciate just what • unpopulated
a huge and diverse country Australia is. Although we • wild
started in a fairly built-up area of the country, we were • wonderful
soon into the bush, the wild and unpopulated land
                 which covers most of Australia.

Additionally, I actually found having nothing to do
incredibly relaxing. I had expected to be bored; but in
actual fact, it was wonderful to be able to spend the
                                                                                                   Norway
time reading or sketching the scenery we travelled
                 past.

In all, I’d say it’s a fantastic experience if you want
some down-time to enjoy watching the world go by.
                                                                                Japan
