             C. Read the text and answer the questions.

If you wrote a letter to your future self, what would you say? Would it be a reminder of the
goals you set yourself? Or a message with a happy memory from now? On the FutureMe
website, you can write yourself an email and have it delivered on a date you choose in
the future. Read these letters. Would you write something similar?

           Dear FutureMe,
So, now you’re twenty-five, and Dear FutureMe,
I bet it’s been a great ten years. I’m writing this to say that now you’re about to finish
You’ve probably finished uni by school and head off to uni, it’s the chance for a fresh start.
now and started work, unless you’re I mean, maybe you’ve become less shy over the past four
unemployed, which would suck. I years, and I really hope that people stopped bullying you
know Mum and Dad always said for being quiet. I’m a patient person: you can wait until
they’d be proud of you whatever high school’s done, and you can leave this miserable
happened, but I can imagine if place, but I just wanted to remind you that now’s your
you’re not working, they’re probably chance to change.
a bit worried, especially if you’re still I know you’ll be nervous, but I also know it’s what you
            living at home! need.
What else, erm – I guess I hope 14-year-old me
you’re still running. Wouldn’t it be
cool if you’ve actually become a Dear FutureMe,
             proper athlete? Though I guess,
that’s unlikely as you were never A lot can happen in five years, but I guess some things might not
particularly competitive. How far do have changed much. Is Great-gran still with us? She’s pretty elderly
you think you’ve run in the past ten even now, but she’s also one of the strongest people I know, and

years? it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s still here, complaining about Dad’s
Other than that, I hope you’re still spaghetti bolognese and waving her walking stick at pigeons!
enjoying life and smiling. Here’s to And what about the homeless guy who slept on the bench at the
the next ten years together! bus stop? I really hope he’s found somewhere to live. He’s been there

for a couple of years already so there’s every chance he might still
be sleeping rough as you’re reading this.
                       15-year-old me I don’t really know why I decided to write this letter. I don’t think I

have any wise words for you; plus you’re older than me now and
                                                  know more about the world!

Never mind, I guess it’ll just be fun to get this, especially as I’ll probably
                                                  have forgotten I wrote it!

                                                                         13-year-old me
