22 nd April

Today is my birthday! No party this year (I thought). If my birthday

hadn’t been on a school night during exam week, I would have
organised a celebration. Never mind, it was a great day. My family
and friends all wished me ‘Happy Birthday’ and gave me some lovely
gifts. If I’d taken more notice, I might have wondered why my friends
seemed excited all day long. More excited than me! We’d arranged

to meet up in a local coffee bar after school. The café was empty,
and if my friends had waited any longer, I would have turned around
and left. Suddenly they all appeared waving sparklers, throwing
birthday confetti over me, and cheering. A live band started playing

my favourite songs, and we sang and danced for the next couple of
hours. If anyone had seen us, they would have thought we’d gone
crazy. We hadn’t. We were just happy to be together, having a great
time. In fact, if we didn’t have exams tomorrow, we would have

danced all night!
