Dear Auntie Mildred ,
Thanks for my card and birthday money. Mum says I could do with some new trainers for basketball, so
I’m going to use the money to buy a pair next weekend.
I had a really great birthday, even though I didn’t have a big party as I’d originally wanted. In the end,
I invited a few friends over for a sleepover, and we had a fun time. We watched a couple of scary movies,
and we sang karaoke, too as Dad got me a machine for my birthday. Unfortunately, Mum had to come
in and tell us to keep it down as she was trying to sleep – she’ll probably tell me to take the machine to
Dad’s house instead!
Did Mum tell you I got a role in the school play? I get to dress up as a wicked witch and have my face
painted green! I’ve got a fantastic costume, too, though I still need to sort out what to do with my hair.
I might end up wearing a wig. It’s quite exciting, and we’re rehearsing most afternoons. I think I know my
lines, but I just hope I don’t get nervous on the day and mess things up. It’s on next month if you want to
come.
This year’s just flying by. It feels like we’ve only just taken down the Winter Ball decorations, and we’re
preparing for the end-of-year show! And I still need to find an outfit for our graduation party. I don’t know
when I’ll have time with the rehearsals and studying for my final exams. We’re renting a party boat and
going out on a trip around the bay. All dressed up in smart clothes. I’m really looking forward to it! Plus,
they always set off fireworks on Fridays in the summer, so we’ll get to watch those from the boat, too.
Right, time to carry on revising – I’ll be so glad when all my exams are over. I’m off to Dad’s this weekend
because I find it easier to revise there.
Possibly see you for the school play, and thanks again for my birthday present.
Love and hugs,
Alia
