C. Look at the bar graph and complete the report below.
Average monthly spend on clothes and accessories
From the bar graph, we can see that people in the 1 age
group spend more on clothes than the other two groups. This could be
due to the fact that they have a higher salary than the 2
age group and possibly more disposable income than the older group.
Many of the people in the 25–45 age group stated that after university,
they tended to spend 3 on clothes both to make a good
impression at interviews and as they needed a different style of clothes
for the workplace than those they had worn as students.
In the 18–25 age group, many stated that they felt mediocre if they were
seen wearing the same outfit too often. However, with clothing being
expensive, they tended to spend more on 4 as these can
add colour and texture to the same old outfit.
On the other hand, according to those interviewed, one reason for the 45+ group spending comparatively
5 on accessories is that they prefer to purchase fewer items of a higher quality.
Looking at the totals, we can see that the 25–45 age group spend approximately a third more than the
6 age group, with a total monthly spend of around £275.
