Writing Time




              Linking words: They are used to connect ideas or as
              a transition from one idea to another depending on the
              relation between the two ideas.

                  Use a comma after linking words when they are at the beginning
                  of a sentence.

                  Examples:

                         I love playing football so much. However, I didn’t know how
                         to play when I was young.

                           I used to say words incorrectly when I was a baby.

                         For example, I used to say “mabaroni” not macaroni.
                  Try it:







                 Use a semicolon before the linking words if they are connecting
                 “independent” sentences.

                 Examples:

                        The car was going really fast; however, there was no one driving.

                          She hates reading; in fact, she has never read a book.
