Jessica the Postcard Collector

Jessica had been a postcard collector since she was nine.
She started collecting postcards during her first trip abroad with her
swimming team. The first time Jessica saw a postcard, she thought that
it would be a great idea to buy one every time she went away and then
stick the postcards up on the wall in her room. Jessica bought a lot of
postcards, and on every single one of them, she wrote the date when she
had bought it, her location at the time, and a memory that she wanted
to preserve. Jessica never sent them to anyone, but she always addressed
                      them: “To future me.”

                  1 Discuss the following questions.

1 Do you think that what Jessica did was a good idea? Why or why not?

2 Would you do the same? Why or why not?

3 What else might you do to hang onto a special memory, or to remember a
                         specific event?

                 Text Connection

1 Find the connection between the main text and the text about Jacob.

2 Find the connection between the main text and the text about Jessica.

3 Compare and contrast the three reading texts.
