                   The Prince and Lucky

The prince’s camel had been lost in the desert, and everyone
was searching for him. The prince truly loved his camel and
had named him Lucky. He ordered fifty men to search for
him. Lucky had got lost when he was following the prince’s
servants through the desert while they were fetching water
to slake their thirst. On the first day he was lost, Lucky
survived by drinking the water that the servants had
left hanging on his back, and because he was a camel, he
was able to store it for a long time. It lasted Lucky five days
before he needed more water. Lucky searched everywhere
for more water, and he was in real danger of dying of
dehydration. Luckily, on the seventh day, the prince’s servants
found him and took him back to the castle.

               1 Discuss the following questions.

1 What do you think would have happened if the servants hadn’t hung any water
                      on Lucky’s back?

2 Why was Lucky able to survive?
