Trouble in the Desert
One very hot, sunny day, a large group of travellers were
crossing the desert. They were carrying litres and litres of
water to drink during their trip. The sun was so hot that one of
the travellers’ cars overheated and broke down. Then, the
two drivers fainted in the heat and became very ill.
The other travellers tried hard to fix the broken-down car,
but they weren’t able to do it, and none of them could drive,
either. They stayed there for two days until all their water was
gone. One of them suggested that they should cut down the
cactus plants around them and drink the water stored inside.
It would be enough to allow them to survive the scarcity of
water until at least one of the drivers had recovered and was
able to take them home in the remaining car.
