Spooky Stories of Haunted Places in Bogota

La Candelaria is a small town in Bogota, Colombia. Tourists love visit
/ visiting the old town because it has a long and mysterious history.
However, live / living in La Candelaria can be quite scary. Most houses
in La Candelaria are more than 200 years old, and many people
believe that the houses are home to ghosts and paranormal activities.
You might consider / to consider these stories as myths and urban
legends, but some residents of the town assure people that many of
them are real – scary real.

Daniel Andrea is one of the residents who thinks the spooky stories
in town are all true. In fact, he claims like many other residents that
he has also seen ghosts in San Vitorio Di Torino Hotel. He says, “Every
summer I worked in the hotel make / to make some money for college.
During the day, the hotel looked like an ordinary hotel, but at night it
was home to many ghosts. I saw them with my own eyes.”

Another local with a scary story is Fernando Rojas. He was a guide at
the Museum of Bogota, and he swears he saw balls of light dancing
around like fireflies in one of the museum’s halls. According to Rojas,
the lights usually appeared just before closing time with such intensity
that they illuminated the whole room. “I saw the lights many times, and
they were real. Last year, I decided to quit / quitting my job because
                I was too scared.”

Another creepy story is about a restaurant called La Bruja. The building
                                                                     th
of the restaurant was built on a public cemetery in the 18 century.
Its manager, Diego Gomez, told us there are hundreds of ghosts living
there. He says, “It is true that there are lots of ghosts here, but two
ghosts are extremely dangerous. One of them is called Maria, and the
other one is Alfredo. I am not scared of to see / seeing ghosts, but I am
terrified when I see the hideous faces of Maria and Alfredo.”

Diego is scared of these two ghosts because he thinks they are trying
to kill him. One night, he was closing the restaurant when he had to
return inside to switch off a light. When he entered the restaurant,
everything was scarily dark. Then, he felt a force throw him against a
sofa. The force left him out of breath. He says that when the spectrum
showed itself, it was Alfredo. He was looking at him with anger while
pressing his neck. Luckily, one of his colleagues came looking for him,
                and the ghost disappeared.
It seems seeing / see a ghost is normal in La Candelaria, but why
are there so many ghosts in that little town? The numerous ghost
appearances in the district are attributed to the fact that formal
cemeteries didn’t exist until recently. For hundreds of years, people
buried the dead in their home gardens. We’ll probably never have
an explanation for the dancing lights or restless ghosts: for the best in
Bogota’s haunted history, La Candelaria is the place to be.
