Writing Time




              Subordinate clauses: They are incomplete sentences
              that precede or follow independent sentences to modify
              or explain them.




                 Use a comma to separate the independent sentence (main clause)
                 and the subordinate clause when the subordinate clause comes
                 first.


                 Examples:

                        Although Tim was really hungry, he refused to eat outside.
                          While I was cooking dinner in the kitchen, the whole family
                        was playing hide-and-seek outside.
                 Try it:

                 clause) and the subordinate clause when the main clause comes
                 first.

                 Examples:
                          I was really tired after I played football for the whole day.
                          She got the promotion she was waiting for because she
                        worked really hard for a couple of years.
