Pizza Day
My best friends, Roger and Dina, love helping their mother in the kitchen. They
dream of becoming famous chefs one day and having their own TV cooking
programme.
One day, Roger and Dina decided to make a surprise for their mum and bake
a pizza from scratch. The siblings put on their aprons and their chef hats and
began to prepare the dough for the pizza base. Firstly, Roger dissolved two
teaspoons of dried yeast and one and a half teaspoons of sugar in lukewarm
water. Dina stirred it well and then let the yeast settle for 20 minutes, while
Roger sifted 500 grams of flour and then added a tablespoon of olive oil, and
some salt to it. After that, they added the yeast and 275 ml of water to the flour.
They kneaded the dough for about fifteen minutes and then let it sit for two
hours while they watched some television. Then, they kneaded the dough again,
and rolled it out into a big circle, and their pizza dough was ready.
They heated the oven to 150 degrees and turned it off. Then, they placed the
dough on a baking tray in the warm oven. After about ten minutes, the dough
began to rise. Dina happily flattened the dough with her fingers to a thickness
of half an inch. The pizza base was ready! They brushed the top of the base with
olive oil, spread on tomato sauce, and covered it with a lot of cheese, olives, red
pepper, pepperoni, and mushrooms.
Finally, they baked the pizza again for about 10 minutes until the crust was
brown and the cheese was deliciously golden. Their mum couldn’t have been
happier about the delicious surprise the children had made for her. It was the
tastiest pizza they had ever eaten. Although it took a long time to make, they
gobbled it all up in just a few minutes!
