when suddenly the lights went out. Her mom came in
with a candle because they couldn’t see anything.
Tara had nothing to do but wait until the electricity
came back on. She was very bored and asked her mom,
“What did people do without computers or even TVs?”

Leo. Leo was talking to his friend on his cell phone.
When Leo nished his phone call, Grandpa Martin
told him that in the old days he didn’t have a phone
at home. Leo was shocked and asked, “How did you
call people back then?!”

Laura was reading about the past. She found out
that people used to send letters and wait for weeks
to receive them. How do people send letters now
and how long does it take?
Conclusion
In the past, there used to be no cell phones. People used to walk to a
phone booth to make a phone call. Long before that, there were no
phones at all! People used to hear the news only on the radio. There were
no TVs or computers.
