Dear Parents,

As part of our social studies program, your child is learning about the
difference between the past and the present. In class, we learned how
technology has changed things in our time.

Here are some things you can do to reinforce the message of this lesson
and our related learning activities.

• Ask your child to tell you two things that they learned from the
lesson.

• Play the machines game with your child. Let your child name a
new invention, and you tell him/her its equivalent in the past. For
example, he/she might say car, and you might answer with horse

cart.
• Download a puzzle game to your phone or computer. Then give

your child a real puzzle to solve. Ask him/her which experience
was better, and why.
