Africa

Africa is the second largest continent in the world, after

Asia. Africa has 23% of the world’s total land area. It is

three times larger than the United States.

The Equator divides Africa in half. Half of Africa is in the

Northern Hemisphere and the other half is in the

Southern Hemisphere.
The continent of Africa is bordered by

• The Mediterranean Sea in the north.

• The Atlantic Ocean in the west.

• The Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean

in the east.
