Feeling a bit hard up? Finding your pocket money’s getting you nowhere fast? Here are some simple tricks to
pocket some extra cash.
1. Clear out your clutter
It’s worth having a spring clean every now and then. First of all, check
for any items that you purchased but haven’t got around to using yet.
Is there anything you’ve decided you no longer want? Take it back
so they can refund your money. Even if they give you a credit note,
at least you can put it aside for something you really want at a later
date. Secondly, get rid of any clothes you no longer want. If they’re in
good condition, sell them online. Thirdly, if you have any unused tech
lying around, try to find it a new home for a reasonable price!
2. Get a part-time job
Depending on employment requirements and restrictions, you may be
able to earn some money on the side by finding work in a café or shop.
It’s a great way not only to earn money, but also to pick up valuable life
skills for the future, plus it looks good on your CV! Remember though
to deposit your pay cheque straight into your account – the risks of
spending your hard-earned cash are high if it’s sitting in your wallet,
calling out to be spent.
3. Learn to economise
If your monthly outgoings are high, you need to make cuts somewhere. Keep a diary of all
your spending for a month and then check out where you can save. It could be simple
things like buying a reusable bottle and filling it up at home rather than shelling out each
day for a bottle of mineral water.
4. Sell your skills and knowledge
Find something you’re good at and market it. Whether it’s being an after-
school tutor and putting your knowledge as a maths whizz to good use
or selling handmade crafts on an online artisan marketplace, you can
make a pretty penny doing what you’re good at in your free time.
So, now you’ve got the know-how, it’s time to make some money!
