              Pixels.
              If you look closely at a digital picture, you can see millions of tiny little squares.
              Sometimes you can see them just by looking at a picture. Other times you have to
              zoom in to notice them.




                                                    Look at this picture of a lady.













                                                       If you zoom in, you will
                                                          see it is made up of
                                                           lots of little squares
                                                                   called pixels.






              Pixels, which is short for ‘picture elements’, are colourful
              squares in a picture that go together to make up a digital
              picture.

              The more pixels a picture has, the better it looks! That’s
              why a picture that doesn’t have many pixels looks better
              when we zoom out rather than if we look at it up close.




              Let’s Practise

              Zooming in and out on pictures.

              Use your phone, tablet, or computer to zoom in and out on
              different pictures. What do you notice?
