              Formal and informal language: These are used depending on
              the person you are talking or writing to. You use formal
              language to communicate professionally or with people
              you don’t know well, and you use informal language to
              communicate with your friends, family, or people of the same rank.




                Use stronger vocabulary when you are using formal language

                compared to when you are using informal language.

                Examples:

                         Informal: I am so happy you made it here.
                       Formal: I am delighted that you could come.
                Try it:

                       Informal: This is a good piece of art you have got here.
                       Formal:





                 Don’t use contractions (can’t, he’s) in formal language.

                 Examples:


                          Informal: I’m sorry you can’t be here.
                        Formal: I am so sorry you cannot be here.
                 Try it:
                        Informal: I couldn’t help but write back to him.
