Let’s Learn More
How Did the Industrial Revolution Start in the United States?
Samuel Slater, an English American, worked
in the textile mills of Great Britain and went
to the United States when he was
twenty-one years old. He brought his
experience of working in the mills and
factories to New England in the northeast of
America. He was called “the Father of the
American Industrial Revolution” and started
many factories.

What Were the Working Conditions during the Industrial Revolution?
One problem during the Industrial Revolution
was dangerous working conditions for
individuals in production lines. People had to
work very fast for very long hours even when
they were tired or ill. It was very easy to get
injured or hurt. The conditions in the factories
were often very hot and dirty. Child labor was
also another problem during this period.
Working laws were changed by the end of
1900s to protect workers.
