Textile Industry before the Industrial Revolution

Before the Industrial Revolution, textile and

cloth manufacturing was a huge challenge

for manufacturers, as it was all handmade

and on a very small scale which could not

cover the demand because of the

            continuous increase of the population.

Moving textile or cloth was also very

di cult because of the lack of

            transportation. There was no mass

production as well, since it also needed

a lot of manpower and took a lot of time.

Textile Industry after the Industrial Revolution

            After the Industrial Revolution, everything

            changed. The steam engine helped

            manufacturers mass-produce textile and

cloth in a very short time and with a few

            number of workers.

Also, the appearance of the steam engine

made it possible for manufacturers to

grow their scale of trade, because railroads

            became available for transporting goods.
