             Famous Rivers and Mountains in the Middle East



            The Taurus Mountains

            The Taurus Mountains extend through the borders

            of southern Turkey to the borders of both Iraq and


            Iran, with the highest peak height of 3,767 m.

            Nomads have taken the Taurus Mountains as their

            home for years, herding sheep and camels.

            Adapting to the hard living conditions of the

            mountains, the Nomads live in tents and huts built

            using palm trees and whatever else they  nd.

            The Taurus Mountains also acted as a border

            between the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic

            countries through the seventh century and was a              Taurus Mountains in Goynuk, Turkey


            huge bene t to the Islamic state.

            The Euphrates River

            The Euphrates River extends through Iraq, Turkey,

            and Syria, and it is one of the longest rivers in the

            Middle East, 2,800 km long.

            The Euphrates goes towards the Persian Gulf and

            is a great source of vegetation to its surrounding


            area. The dams and irrigation systems built

            through the river make it also of high signi cance,

            providing electricity and water supply to di erent

            places.
