Landforms as Natural Defenses
The Middle East has gone through a lot of di erent changes and di erent dominant
empires and countries, but in all times its geography and landforms have played a huge
role in either defending it or its culture. The Middle Eastern landforms have helped in
shaping and dividing the whole region. They even play a role in the region’s climate. Do
you think things would be di erent if these landforms did not exist? Would the Middle
East be more vulnerable? Which types of landforms do you think have had the greatest
e ect on the Middle East?
