            What Is the Importance of Europe?



            Europe is a land of industry, the focal point

            of the West, and the birthplace of some of

            the most important civilizations in history,

            from Ancient Greece, where democracy was

            born, to the Roman Empire.

            The two biggest wars in modern history,

            World War I and World War II, began in


            Europe. In 1993, many European countries

            joined together to form the European Union.

            This union enables separate European

            nations to have a single currency called the

            euro. The countries of the European Union        Sculpture of ancient Roman soldiers
