            The Biggest Cities in Europe



            Istanbul

            Previously named Byzantium and

            Constantinople, Istanbul is the biggest city in

            Europe and the most populous city in Turkey.

            It has a population of approximately 15

            million.

            Istanbul is a transcontinental city, which


            means that it has a part in Europe and a part

            in Asia, separated by the Bosphorus River. A

            third of the population of Istanbul lives on the

            Asian side, while the economic center is on     Blue Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey

            the European side.

            Moscow

            Moscow is Russia’s most populous city, with

            about 13 million citizens, and its cultural and

            political center.


            Moscow is located in Eastern Europe on the

            Moskva River in the European part of Russia.

            Moscow is also known for its green areas,

            which form around 40% of its whole area.
