             International Organizations


            An international organization is an organization with at least three

            members or nations. Members of an organization are held together

            by formal agreements and have activities in di erent member

            countries. International organizations often support speci c issues

            like health, children’s welfare, or trade economies.

            International organizations are often divided into two types:

            • Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) are held through


             governmental agreements among countries.

            • Nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) are led by associations or

             individuals independent of any government.
