The French people did not like the
King’s decisions and attacked the
Bastille, which was a prison lled with
innocent people imprisoned by the
nobles and clergy.
The unrest kept on going until France,
which was trying to save King Louis
XVI’s monarchy, got into war.
Despite narrowly winning the war,
France was announced to be no
longer a monarchy in September,
1792, and both the King and the
Queen were executed with the
guillotine.
The revolution succeeded, and
anyone who was against the
revolution was under the threat of
being executed or imprisoned, so
people were very careful when talking
in public or saying anything against
the revolution.
