Who Was Queen Elizabeth I?

Queen Elizabeth I was born in 1533. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Queen Anne.

Elizabeth learned to read and write in many di erent languages and lived the life of a wealthy lady.

She was only thirteen years old when her father, King Henry, died, after which her brother, Edward,

held the throne.

Elizabeth became queen of England in 1558, when she was twenty- ve years old. She remained the

queen for forty-four years. She worked hard to make her people happy and safe and set up a

council of advisors to help her with critical issues in the United Kingdom and around the world.
