A file with a ‘jpg’ extension
is a picture file. If we

double-click on a picture
file, a picture viewing app
will run for us to look at it.

Another example is a file
with a ‘docx’ extension. This
tells the computer that the
file is a document.

Here is a table with some of the most common files we use today.
