Disk formatting.
Storage devices can’t back up and save our files if they aren’t formatted first. Formatting these
devices for initial use creates a ‘File system’ which tells your computer where each file is
physically located on the drive. There are also times when a device might be malfunctioning.
Formatting it will, in many cases, make the device usable again. Make sure that there isn’t any
valuable data on the device, as formatting it will erase everything, so be careful.

Formatting a storage device.

Make sure your storage device is plugged in.

Open ‘File Explorer’.
3 Search for your storage device
in the list of connected drives.

Right-click on the device you wish
to format and choose ‘Format’.
