Globes
A globe is a ball-shaped object that
shows a model of the Earth and how it
looks in outer space. It shows us the
entire world, with its oceans,
continents, seas, rivers, and more.
A globe gives a 3D view of the world.
A globe is spherical, or round.
You can spin a globe around to see
the whole world.
It must be in solid form.
Maps
A map gives us a detailed view of the world. It might show us countries,
cities, and even roads.
A map is at and gives a 2D view.
There are di erent kinds of maps:
Some maps show us the borders
between countries, or only one country
with its di erent regions.
Some maps show a city or a
neighborhood with the roads around it,
and we call that a “road map.”
Maps help us to know the places we
want to go and how we can reach them.
Detailed maps with streets and
buildings can be found on smart phones.
