Let’s Connect
Communities in the Past
In the past, there were rarely urban
communities. People mostly lived in
suburban or rural communities. Also,
transportation was by horse and carriage.
Communication was by letters and later on
by wired telephones. Houses were simple
and were far apart. Buildings were not very
tall because they only had a few oors.
Streets were not as crowded as they are
now. There were not as many cars in the
streets.

Communities Now
The existence of urban communities has become the
main way of life in most countries. Currently, streets
are overly crowded. Buildings in urban communities
are very tall, and the distance between them is very
short. There are many means of transportation, such
as buses, metros, and taxis. Cars are now everywhere
in the streets. Community helpers have grown in
various types of professions, and the numbers have
increased greatly compared to the past.
