            The History of Maps

            The  rst map ever known to Man is the

            Babylonian Map of the World. It is currently

            placed in the British Museum. It was not an


            actual map of the world as much as it was more

            like a map of Babylon and surrounding areas.

            Maps were not as accurate as they are now, so,

            in some cases, maps were missing several

            places or had them placed inaccurately. Also,

            some locations were not discovered yet, so

            during certain ages, not all locations were


            listed on the maps.

            Maps Nowadays




                                                     The maps we have now are as accurate as they can be.

                                                     You can locate anything anywhere in the world. The

                                                     Earth is surrounded by more than 4000 satellites. You

                                                     can easily locate any place on a map and see its

                                                     features and any speci c details about it on your

                                                     computer without even visiting it.

                                                     Maps are being updated regularly. Some maps have

                                                     symbols to identify the location of speci c places in


                                                     di erent cities.
