The History of Maps
The rst map ever known to Man is the
Babylonian Map of the World. It is currently
placed in the British Museum. It was not an
actual map of the world as much as it was more
like a map of Babylon and surrounding areas.
Maps were not as accurate as they are now, so,
in some cases, maps were missing several
places or had them placed inaccurately. Also,
some locations were not discovered yet, so
during certain ages, not all locations were
listed on the maps.

Maps Nowadays
The maps we have now are as accurate as they can be.
You can locate anything anywhere in the world. The
Earth is surrounded by more than 4000 satellites. You
can easily locate any place on a map and see its
features and any speci c details about it on your
computer without even visiting it.
Maps are being updated regularly. Some maps have
symbols to identify the location of speci c places in
di erent cities.
