The High Dam: Before and After

The Aswan High Dam was built in the middle of the

20 century. Before its construction, the Nile River
th
ooded the land every winter. This was one of the

reasons that led to its construction, because without

it, all the crops were lost and agriculture was a ected

badly.

After the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the

ood was controlled and stopped. It also succeeded

in saving a lot of the water that was wasted during

the ood. Moreover, it helped in generating a clean

renewable source of electricity.

Egypt: Center of the World?

Egypt’s location is one of its main

physical features. It is one of Africa’s

gateways to Europe through the

Mediterranean Sea. It is the link

between Northern Africa and Asia

through Sinai and the Red Sea. Egypt’s

Suez Canal connects the Northern and

Southern Hemispheres.
