The Middle East had seen a lot of changes and witnessed many civilizations

            through the years.

The Middle East before World War I

                                                                        British troops entering Baghdad
From the Mesopotamians to the Levant and the after its capture in 1917, during

Roman Empire then to the Byzantine Empire World War I

and then later to the Islamic conquests and the

Islamic golden age, the Middle East has been

one of the treasures of the world.

However, by the 7 century AD, after the Arab
                                 th
conquest of the region, Arabs, the Ottoman

Empire, and the British Empire were the most

dominant in the region, and they kept the

power till the beginning of World War I.

The Middle East after World War I

After the war, the British and their French allies
Oil docks in the Arabian Gulf
were in control of the whole region, until the

countries of the Middle East regained their

            region by the 1960s.

By the 20 century, the economic power of the
                       th
Middle East appeared by the vast quantities of

oil supplied by Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait, Iraq,

and the United Arab Emirates and by the

power that they held either in money or in

            resources.
