The Government of China
The president of China is elected by the National People’s Congress; however, the president does not
have ultimate authority.
The National People’s Congress holds around 2,980 members, and it is considered the national legislature
of China.
The premier, head of the government, and his four vice-premiers hold the highest ranks in the Chinese
government and authority.
The constitution of China stipulates, or demands as part of an agreement, that the country’s central state
organs comprise six components: the National People’s Congress (NPC), the Presidency, the State Council,
the Central Military Commission, the Supreme People’s Court, and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.
