What Type of Government Does Greece Have?

            The Greeks changed their government

in 1973 to end the monarchy and

replace the royal family with a new

            constitutional government and a

            parliamentary republic. Greece now

has a president and a prime minister.

The prime minister has more power in

the government and is the leader of

            the elected parliament. The president

            appoints the cabinet ministers who

run the di erent departments of the

government. The parliament in Greece Greek general election, 2015

is called the “Vouli.” This parliament

has three hundred members who are

elected at regular intervals, or periods

            of time, every four years.

Greece became a member of the

            European Union (EU) in 1981.
