Let’s Observe

            France’s Most Important Moments

Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the

            Citizen

In 1789, France declared what would be its

constitution, the Rights of Man and of the

Citizen, set by France's National Constituent

            Assembly.

With the help of Thomas Je erson, Abbé

Sieyès and the Marquis de Lafayette wrote the

document and decided that it would be

followed to insure freedom and equality to

the French people after the French

            Revolution.

The Start of the Fifth Republic

After the collapse of the parliamentary system

and the inability to solve the problems of the

third republic, the fourth republic collapsed to

be replaced by the fth republic in 1958.

To stay in control until today, the fth

republic, developed by Charles de Gaulle,

replaced the parliamentary republic with a

semi-presidential system, where power is split

between a prime minister and a president.

This changed France’s future and led to its

            prosperity.
