Click ‘Next’ when you have
selected your type of microphone.

Make sure you follow the instructions
and position the microphone correctly.
Then, click ‘Next’ to continue.

The app will then ask you to read aloud. This
is necessary to set up the software. After you
have read the text, click ‘Next’.

In the next few windows, you can select your
own personal settings. After doing so, your
microphone is set up and you are ready to
control the computer by voice.

Fun Time!

In the search box of the taskbar, type ‘Control Panel’ and select the app. Select the
category ‘Speech Recognition’. From the list of options, choose ‘Train your computer to
better understand you’. Follow the instructions to start the training.

Challenge Yourself!

There are many voice commands you could use to control your computer. You can find
a list of these commands if you open the Speech Recognition window and click on the
option ‘Open the Speech Reference Card’. Your browser will open and display a page of
voice commands we’ll be using in the next lesson.
